FARM TO CAMERA

There is an argument to be made that a carrot, a bundle of herbs, or a cluster of berries is as worthy of a gilded frame as anything hanging in a museum. This series makes that argument. I collected antique frames — dozens of them, each with its own history and ornamentation — and filled them with fruits and vegetables that stopped me in their tracks.

Some came from friends' home gardens. Others I found myself, moving through farmers markets season by season, looking for whatever spoke to me that week. Some of my favorites came through collaborations with chefs, who brought me to their suppliers and selected the ingredients that inspired them most. Everything was brought back to my studio and photographed in natural light.

The result is a portrait of nature's beauty, simply and deliberately framed.
